  • Why does NSC conduct quizzes only for 10thees and below? 

    Acharya P.C. Ray National Level Quiz Competition on Chemistry

    On the occasion of International Year of Chemistry & as a part of 150th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Acharya P.C. Ray a National Level Quiz Competition on Chemistry is being organized.

    Eligibility: Team comprising of two (2) students from a school (Classes VIII to X).
    Tiers of Competition:Centre level : National Science Centre, DelhiZonal : Two winning teams from Lucknow and Kurukshetra Science Centres will join the Zonal level quiz which will be held at National Science Centre, Delhi in July 2011.National: One wining team from each Zonal level quiz will join the National level Semi-final and Final of the quiz which will be held at BITM, Kolkata.
    Dates:Centre level Quiz will be held on 26th April 2011 at 10.00amZonal Level Quiz will be held on 15th July,2011National Level Quiz will be held at BITM on 1st August, 2011
    TA:One wining team from Zonal Level e along with one escort teacher per team will arrive at BITM, Kolkata on 31st July, 2011 for taking part in National Level quiz & they will leave Kolkata on 3rd August, 2011. Sleeper Class to & fro railway fare / State Bus fare / ordinary Bus fare by the shortest route will be given to the participants along with escorts for joining the national level quiz.Free boarding & lodging will be arranged at Kolkata for the National Level Quiz participants and their escort teachers.Questions will be based on Chemistry taught from VIII to X std. and on history of Chemistry with special emphasis on the work of Acharya P.C. Ray.
    Language: The quiz will be conducted in English / Hindi.
    Guideline for organizing the quiz: Minimum 5 Sets of questions in Direct & Bonus format will be conducted in Centre level quiz and 10 Sets of questions in Direct & Bonus format will conducted in the Zonal level Quiz. Audio visual and experimental rounds along with oral questions will be conducted in the National Level Quiz. [Time:Direct Question – 10 Secs. & Bonus Question-5 Secs. Marks : Direct Question –10 marks. & Bonus Question- 5 marks. No negative marking]
    Prize Structure:
    A. Centre Level :
    Winner: Rs. 1,000.00 (Per Team)Runner-up Prize: Rs.800.00 (Per team)Non-winning Semi Finalists (4 nos): Rs. 500.00 (per team)
    B. Zonal Level :Winner: Rs. 3,000.00 (Per Team)Runner-up Prize: Rs.2,000.00 (Per team)Non-winning Semi Finalists (2nos): Rs. 1,500.00 (per team)
    C. National Level :
    Winner: Rs. 6000.00 (Per Team) along with Acharya P C Ray Challenge winner Trophy (for the School)Runner-up Prize: Rs. 5,000.00 (Per team) along with Acharya P C Ray Challenge Runner Trophy (for the School)Non-winning Semi Finalists (2 nos): Rs. 3,000.00 (per team)Prizes shall be awarded at the concluding ceremony of the Acharya P.C. Ray National Seminar to be held at Science City, Kolkata on 2nd August, 2011.

  • @Yash: Dude, I used the same idea to participate in quizzes till last year and it worked. But it wont work with NSC. No on-the-spot registrations or individual registrations are allowed. The school can only register itself by sending the names of the 2 students. And they are very particular about their rules which clearly specifies upper limit to be tenthees, not tenth passed/given(or shall I say hopefully passed). I do wish that someday they start organizing open quizzes.

    @Arshil: Just go behind teacher in-charges and request them 2 register asap.

  • @vidit And Anirudh: I Asked THe Director that How 2 Register She Replied that ( arshil, we are looking for teams     of 2, so get as many teams as possible from your school, list them down, get your coordinator or principal to         approve and sign, and then you send us the list over email ( & copy it to me                               ( ASAP -- that's how you register!
  • There is a computer symposium coming on 26th April 2011 in Bal Bharti Pitam Pura, where there will be a Tech Quiz, for Students of Class XI and XII. Don't have much details right now, but i guess, Mukund will have some information, since he is in Bal Bharti Noida.
  • The best part is that I dont have an idea about it. It should be more of symposium nd less of quiz. Though I ll be there for d book week but not for this quiz/symposium but for English play. Lemme see if i could get some info for you...
  • NDTV RedDot Productions are making a daily (5 days a week) quiz show - 'SAWAL INDIA KAA'. This show will tests the contestant's knowledge about India. Everyday there will be a separate topic for the Quiz.

    Topics are:

    04. History & Mythology
    05. Bollywood, Culture + Entertainment

    We will be shooting 5 episodes every week on Mondays and Tuesdays.
