MATRIX ECOMM SYMPOSIUM 2012
  • The Matrix Clan and Ecomm Buzz of Mount St. Mary's School, Delhi Cantt. have the pleasure of announcing the 12th Bro. Aloysius Matrix-Ecomm Interschool Symposium scheduled for 18 and 19 October. Aimed at nourishing an interest in technology & economics, The Matrix Ecomm Symposium gives the participants a chance to showcase their talent amidst like-minded students in the host of events organised by The Matrix Clan and Ecomm Buzz - the computer and economics club of the school respectively.

    The Events:

    1. Symposium
    The school will be represented in the symposium by a team consisting of a speaker, an interjector and visual aid supporter. A maximum of 2.5 minutes will be given for speaking. There will be one interjection per speaker and no cross-questioning will be allowed. In the absence of any interjection, the speaker stands to gain full points in the rebuttal criterion. All presentations must be made using Microsoft PowerPoint. Points will also be rewarded for the best interjector and best visual aid supporter. The speaker will be judged on content, clarity, presentation, articulation and rebuttal. The teams must choose a topic from the following:
    • Patents – Intellectual Property Being Monopolised?
    • RBI’s Monetary Policy Affecting The Country’s Growth
    • The Deep Web Leading to Deeper Secrets
    • Public Services & Private Companies – Dynamic Combination
    • Power of Government over Internet Governance

    2. Quiz
    The quiz event will feature a written preliminary consisting of questions from the fields of computer science, technology and economics. The five best teams will be selected for the on-stage final round.

    3. Matrix Mindcraft (Surprise Event)
    The Matrix Mindcraft is a surprise event for which the participants must be prepared to battle any quest that might await them in the realm of technology. The event will consist of a preliminary round through which six teams will be selected for the finals. Keep in mind that the only thing that should surprise us is that there are still some things than can surprise us.

    4. Synchronous (Creative Event)
    When we are in sync with our team, only then can we create magic. Synchronous, the creative event aims to test the highest levels of teamwork, digital mastery and presentation. Teams will be required to design images and a website on the given topic using the photo library and information given. The task will be disclosed on the spot.
    Software Provided: Adobe Photoshop CS3, Notepad++, Sublime Text 2 and the latest version of Google Chrome.

    5. Programming
    The programming event will have a written preliminary featuring arithmetic, logical and string based problems. The eight top-scoring teams will be selected for the brain-racking on-computer final round.

    6. Gaming
    Victory lies in store for those who dare to play… Participants for the gaming event should be prepared for all genres of video games on different platforms. Participants are allowed to bring their own plug-n-play USB controllers, mice and headphones. See you serverside.

    7. Crossword
    The cabalistic grid of black and white - the crossword will consist of clues which point to answers in the field of technology.

    8. Brand Advertising
    The team for Brand Advertising will be given a brand and a product. Their task will be to prepare and enact an advertisement in English. The teams may use any costumes, props, charts, musical instruments, jingles or taglines to present their ad in four minutes on- and off- stage. Registered schools will receive their topics two days prior to the event.

    9. Wrap-o-Nomics
    Participants will be required to design an informative package of a product containing the name, logo and all the necessary details. The topics will be given on the spot. The school will only be providing with cartridge sheets.
